Life & Death

As I read through my daily dosage of blogs last night, I froze the moment I opened one blog which I have been reading for years.

The blogger's best friend had just passed away that very day. Someone whom I do not even know but my heart felt totally wrenched. She was just 19, but her life had already come to a full-stop.

Lot of thoughts ran through my mind as I lay to sleep after that. Thought of my closest friends and family, and the worst-case scenario of losing them. *TOUCH WOOD* But it was just these thoughts that were enough to send tears rolling down.

I guess sometimes you just have to think of such things to remind you to cherish everything you have.

Life is just so unpredictable, cherish it.

Samsung OMNIA

Samsung OMNIA - Your desired convenience at hand

When the boyfriend was browsing the net to research on mobile phones to replace his spoilt one 3 weeks back, I chipped in to help and fell in love with the Samsung OMNIA at first sight!

Ultra-slim at only 12.5mm, the sleekness and smartness it exudes deeply attracted me.

5 Megapixel camera with face detection and smile shot
I like taking pictures of interesting things everywhere I go. But I tend to always forget to recharge my digital camera's battery before going out. But no fear! With the OMNIA, I can take clear photos anywhere, anytime I like.

Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
Moving on to my final year in University, this feature will certainly help me a lot! Be it Microsoft Word, Excel or Powerpoint, it has it all. I can draft out my reports on the go and also make any last minute changes I may need to my presentations! The large 3.2" LCD screen will not strain my eyes too.

Oh, and did I mention that it comes in 8GB/16GB internal memory? Who doesn't love massive storage space?

Samsung OMNIA, what more can you wish for from a phone?

Mission Failed!

The search for the dress ended in disappointment today. =( Wisma's outlet didn't have stock of it anymore. So walked all the way to Plaza Singapura. (!!!) No stock of it as well. Almost wanted to go to Bugis but the salesgirl said it wasn't available there as well. Sigh.

Then I don't know why we proceeded to Marina Square. The dress was still there. But the defacts on it seemed worse than yesterday; the holes were even bigger. Why should I spend $109 and get something which is not of mint condition right?

Had dinner at Imperial Treasure La Mian Xiao Long Bao

My Hot&Spicy Ramen

Punch of spiciness was adequately satisfying. The soup mix of mushrooms and bamboos was delicious as well.

But 1 thing I didn't like was the overwhelming amount of parsley given. I guess I can never accept the smell and taste of it.

On the way home, filled in some lucky draw form by HSBC. Got to press the lucky wheel button and got this:
A little pen with 4 different colours of ink

Haha! so that was all I got from an entire day of "shopping"

What's sportsmanship to you?

To me, good sportsmanship constitutes of a 'never say die' attitude, cheering on your fellow runners in the race/field event etc.

For the past 1 & a half weeks, I have nothing but full of respect for runners of races like 3000m and 5000m. The back-end runners, despite lagging behind by almost 1 lap from the first runner, never fail to complete the course no matter how tired they are.

Oversaw a race in which one athlete displayed rather poor sportsmanship in my opinion. It was a 3000m event and 3 runners were neck-to-neck from the final 300m mark or so. One of the athletes fell and stayed on the ground for some time. The runner then gave up running and walked all the way to the finishing line, which till now I still have no idea why.

If she had just picked herself up, a 2nd place would have been still possible. Moreover, she chose to walk on the lane which most runners were on and posed sort of an obstruction to others.

Poor sportsmanship, don't you think so?

How long before your hands & legs feel numb?

Think it's getting more & more serious. I get numbness (pins & needles) in my hands and legs after just 10 minutes of sitting in front of the computer. Sometimes even up to the point where I can't feel my whole limb anymore. Sign of aging & poor blood circulation? Do you get numbness after such a short time too?

One trick that works is to draw 'x's with your finger on the numb place. Maybe it just gets your mind off the uncomfortableness, but it works.

I googled and found this. Probably will try it the next time I get pins & needles. But the main problem to tackle would be to get more exercise? and keep my limbs moving. Feel a little unsettled but hopefully nothing's wrong.

Back after a week

Worked 4 days last week, with 2 days of rising at 530am
Sunrise at the stadium

Lots of waiting to do and the job was rather smooth-sailing with no one making any infringement. (I'm doing umpiring for international track & field btw) I am already a shade tanner despite applying sunblock.

The turnout for WALA track & field on Monday and Tuesday....
is the amount of ppl supporting supposed to be so little? Sparse amount of cheering during the events and prize presentation. Only had better response on the last day's prize presentation

Well-fed throughout the day with refreshments once in the late morning and another time in the late afternoon.

Hotdog buns!!

Mint-coated doughnut

which was delicious! The mint cream gave a refreshing feeling after standing in the sun for quite some time. But, as you know, work is never easy; I had to stuff the remaining 1/3 of the doughnut into my mouth and rush back to my position.

4 consecutive days of work this coming week. I hope I survive!
